Social Networking Site for Car Enthusiasts
Category: Social Networking | Industry: Automotive
Nowadays, everyone belongs to a social network, most belong to more than 1 social network. How do we differentiate each social networking site? –The features available on each site has its own appeal. Our client wanted to further develop a social network site aimed at a specific crowd; car enthusiasts. This web application was originally in Drupal format, and we worked to convert it into RoR.
This social networking site, isn’t a personal one rather a very useful guide for each member. It creates a certain purpose for its members. Members can chose from a very wide range of car choices which we pulled from a large car database, and post reviews and comments about the car. All posts will then be displayed in their individual profile pages.
But this web application is not useful only for its members, non-members can also browse the site to view the reviews of all cars without having to join. The car database that we pull has very detailed information about each cars, so users can utilize this site to get information about any car they can think of.
Informative youtube videos are posted by the admin, to add a more engaging media for users. The application uses multiserver caching, individual servers, and back-up servers to maximize its performance.
The car data is updated automatically via system every month, we also made sure to convert the original drupal database into Ruby on Rails which had to be traced back.
