 Think auction sites are a thing of the past? Old news? Well our client came to us with an idea that gives the old fashioned electronic bidding war a bit of a twist. This auction site is made specifically for antiques. What makes an antique valuable other than its old age? –Where it’s from. Antiques are sought out from all over the world, and sometimes people search for antiques from specific countries. Perhaps because of its unique cultures or defining features that represents certain parts of the world. That was an important aspect that our client wanted to be highlighted on the site.

The main function remains; users all over the world are able to buy and sell antiques. Seller can determine the minimal bid and also highest appraisal. Item category is also what makes this site unique, is the use of Google maps API. The main filter function on this site is location of seller. The entire top half of the site remains a Google maps view. User can click, drag, and zoom in and out of the map to determine a location. The bottom half of the page will display all items that are available within the area chosen by viewer.

The site displays top 20 items in user determined area which constantly corresponds with changes user makes. So, if user decides to move the map, then the results will automatically change along with it.We used reverse Geo-coding for each item entry. When a user wants to sell an item, they will be required to fill in an address field which will be verified on Google maps. From that address, location will be pinpointed on the map which will then be assigned to said item.

All of these features contribute to an innovative way to attract more customers to the site.
